Crafting your life

A brilliant use for thrift stores

I came across this article the other day and I love it so much. It doesn't have to work for everyone,
but if you have extra items that are laying around that you don't need currently, but wonder if you
might need someday, give it a read. After all, the thrift store is a pretty inexpensive "storage unit."
You don't even have to pay a monthly fee. I'm pretty sure you won't find that deal elsewhere.

Now I'm curious, what are your thoughts? I'd love to hear what you have to say over on Instagram.

The place where I give away the stuff

Did you know that my organization Instagram is not just a fabulous font of knowledge
(ha, I wish!), but there are also giveaways? If you didn't, you might want to head on over there
and give it a follow. I hope I share some worthwhile tips and tricks for organizing and
simplifying your life. But if not, at least there are free prizes to win. So that's fun.

New year, new goal

A dear friend sent us a New Year's card and included this quote by Wendell Berry...

"Don't own so much clutter that you will be relieved to see your house catch fire."

And I didn't stop laughing for a full minute.

Especially because underneath the quote, our friend had written, "I'm close."

Oh man, I love it so. A New Year's goal I can get behind. At least I hope.

Two recent purchases I am loving

Oh boy, you are so welcome for this photo of my half bath toilet. What a treasure.

No, all joking aside, I'm sharing this picture for a good reason. At least in my opinion.
I'm so happy about those clear boxes you see on the back of the toilet, I can hardly handle it.

You see, I always have a box of tissues in every bathroom in our home. And as per my
personality, I'm picky about both the brand of tissues and also the decoration on the box.
And that has caused me all sorts of annoyance when I can't find the specific box I want.
(Yes, I'm well aware I'm causing myself the stress. No, I'm still not willing to change it.)
Or especially when the brand I buy decides to redesign all if their tissue boxes. The worst.

And so, I recently came across this genius product on Amazon, as recommended by a favorite
organization IG and oh my word friends, they are the best! I quickly bought one for each of our
four bathrooms and now, when I walk in and see one, I'm just so happy. So ridiculously happy.

(Yes, I'm well aware I'm a goof that gets excited about strange things.
No, I'm still not willing to change it.)

Even my husband and a couple of my kids have commented on how cool they look and I'm beyond
thrilled not to have to worry about the design on the tissue box and only be concerned that I'm buying
the brand and particular tissues I like. It is a good day at my house folks. A very good day indeed.
And then...
No, you aren't seeing double. And our robo vac is not reproducing (the question my husband asked me
a few days ago when he walked into the room and saw them both working hard). I found a big sale on
my favorite vacuum last month. And decided that two vacuums really would be something I enjoyed.

Now as someone who lives quite minimally, this may seem like a strange choice. But I am loving it.

First, each day when the house is clean and the vacuums get started, I know it will look extra
amazing when they are finished. It does make a huge difference in how "vacuumed" things look.

And second, we have a dog (swipe to see her cuteness). A husky to be precise and the sweetest
dog in all the land. And she isn't like all of the new fancy dogs that don't shed. We keep
her brushed well and our home isn't full of her hair for sure, which makes me grateful.
But one extra vacuum, picking up extra hair on a daily basis...I'll take it. It has been fabulous.

There you are friends. An unexpected move by yours truly. That I'm loving.
And now I'm curious, would you ever own two robo vacs or is that just craziness?
Not that it will change the thrill at my decision, but I would love to know!

Miscellaneous tour

And the last of the home tour photos...for now. Our family office and our daughter's art and
toy nook. Here is a video tour of the office for those interested here. Otherwise and as always,
head on over to IG to answer any questions or emails always welcome. Thanks friends!

Bedroom tour

And next, here are a couple of bedrooms we have in our home, as well as the
master closet. Riveting yes? Uh yeah, not so much. But hopefully watching
this video tour of one of the rooms and this video of the master closet make
these slightly boring photos a bit more exciting and informative. Questions?

Garage tour

I've been doing some deep organizing at our house lately and have had some requests
to share photos of some of the areas in our house. I'll share them in three parts right now
(maybe another grouping in three parts down the line) and am starting with the garage.

We have a three-car garage (plus an additional area behind the third garage
that is pretty spacious) and I'm truly grateful. It makes it possible to keep
things organized and simple and just how I like it. I love the tall ceilings
in our garage too, as it makes the rooms feel bigger than they really are.

There are few things I love more than driving into the garage and having things organized
and roomy. I'm definitely a fan for sure. I think it is pretty self-explanatory (except maybe
the large picture/posters I put up of our kids doing activities that they love--maybe
weird, but I loveth), but feel free to email me with any questions or head on over to my
Instagram to read what others have asked or ask a question yourself. Thanks friends.

And cheers to a clean garage!

PS. If you click on this link, you'll find yourself watching a video I made after I finished
making sure this space was organized and lovely. For those interested.
